OECD-CATA Joint Regional Tax Seminar

TAX SEMINAR ON RISK ASSESSMENT

The OECD Korea Policy Centre and the Commonwealth Association of Tax Administrators (CATA) in collaboration with Fiji Revenue & Customs Authority (FRCA) have hold the tax seminar by inviting senior and middle level tax technical officials from the Pacific region countries. The seminar has been conducted from April 25th to 27th in Suva, Fiji.

The objective of this workshop is to broaden and deepen participants’ understanding of current risk assessment tools and techniques to help them better profile and target cases for audit purposes.

The Workshop has been based on practical aspects of risk assessment and delivered through a combination of presentations and case studies with the assistance of resource persons drawn from those jurisdictions with long standing experience in this area as well as from those tax administrations that are seeking to enhance their resource capacity in this area through sharing of experiences. Areas to be covered during the workshop includes:

(i) Key risks to tax base

(ii) Risk assessment approaches

(iii) Use of technology in risk assessment

(iv) Compliance risk management models

(v) Transfer pricing risk assessment

(vi) Risk assessment for SMEs
