The 68th OECD Tax Seminar on “Exchange of Information”

□ The Tax Programme, OECD Korea Policy Centre hosted the 68th OECD Tax Seminar on “Exchange of Information” from February 21 (Monday) to February 26 (Saturday), 2011  in Prima Hotel (Seoul).

□ In this seminar, experts from the OECD HQ and member(non-member) countries participated  as  a lecturer and 30 tax officials from 13 non-member countries in the Asia-Pacific region  including five Korean participants from the National Tax Service were invited.

Main Contents

□ The main contents which were discussed in the seminar are as follows:

ㅇ Introduction to major concepts of exchange of information and OECD standards related to  exchange of information

ㅇ Sharing cases and experiences of OECD member countries on exchange of information usage and its policies

ㅇ Recent trends in OECD member countries and other advanced countries

ㅇ International cooperation to prevent international tax avoidance and tax evaison

ㅇ OECD Multilateral Agrrement, Tax Information Exchange Agreement

ㅇ Enactment of systems to achieve policy effectiveness

Carrying Out a Study Tour to Introduce Korea’s Economic Development

□ Despite the cold weather in February, 30 participants visited Samsung Electronics Digital Plaza Suwon) and a palace in Seoul experiencing various Korean culture and economic development.
